SHINE! Performing Arts Series

Bringing the arts center stage and into the spotlight so youth can raise their voices

The Program

Since the fall of 2023 and in partnership with Aveson Schools, ABG has hosted a seasonal performing arts series where young people have the opportunity to express themselves freely, explore innovation through improvisation, and hone their musical theater talents—all while building a close-knit community and making their voices be heard. Built for children ages 7-15, this special program is led by a team of talented performers, each of whom brings a wide breadth of professional stage and screen experiences to the spotlight, ensuring that each young person gains hands-on experience acting, singing, dancing, and communicating with others. At the core of this program is the intentional celebration of a child’s voice and the value it brings—on and off stage.

The following musicals have been performed by youth in this program:

  • Fall 2023 — Matilda Jr.

  • Spring 2024 — Willy Wonka Jr.

  • Fall 2024 — Shrek Jr.

  • Spring 2025 — Alice in Wonderland Jr.

Stay tuned to see what musical these young stars showcase next!

The Impact

More than just a theater program, this is a transformative experience that nurtures confidence, collaboration, and self-expression. Children not only refine their artistic talents but also build essential life skills such as communication, teamwork, and adaptability—tools that will serve them both on and off the stage. At the heart of this program is the intentional celebration of each child’s voice and the profound value it brings. In a world where young people often struggle to be heard, this initiative empowers them to share their stories, take creative risks, and discover their unique artistic identity. By participating in full-scale musical productions, students experience the joy of bringing a story to life while developing a deep appreciation for the performing arts.

The impact of this program extends far beyond the stage, instilling confidence, discipline, and a sense of belonging that stays with these young performers for years to come. Through every song, scene, and movement, they are not just learning theater—they are discovering their potential and finding their voice in the world.

“Because of ABG's partnership with Aveson Schools, my daughter said she found her passion in life! We love your program.”
